14. Töökogemus:

1983 aastast, töötanud autojuhina (Luual Kaarepere Sovhoostehnikumis), metsavahina (Saaremaal, Pidula metskonnas 1984), kütjana ja valvurina (Tartus 1986-1989), keskkonnaklubikohviku pidajana ja koristajana (Helsingis 1989-1992), rahvusvahelise konsultatsiooniettevõtte esinduse looja ja juhina (Tartus ja Tallinnas 1992-1995), projektijuhina ja programmijuhina (Tallinnas 1997-2002), hindajana, analüütikuna ning konsultandina (alates 2003). Töötamise käigus olen omandanud säästva arendamise alaseid teadmisi ja oskusi nii globaalsel, regionaalse, riiklikul kui kohalikul tasandil. Samuti on tulnud tegelda suutlikkuse tõstmise, avalikkuse osalemise ja strateegilise planeerimise alaste projektidega keskkonnakaitse, ühiskonna arendamise ja metsanduse valdkondades. Töötamine on andnud projektijuhtimise kogemuse alates idee väljatöötamisest, probleemide ja vajaduste analüüsist ja olukorra hindamisest kuni taotluste kirjutamiseni, lepingute sõlmimiseni, projektide elluviimiseni ja aruandluseni. Töö käigus on tulnud ette valmistada ja ellu viia ligi 50 erinevat kursust, seminari, ajurünnakut, foorumit ja konverentsi. Projektide rahastajatena on olnud Maailmpank, US AID (USA Abi), Euroopa Liidu PHARE programm, ÜRO Arenguprogramm, Euroopa Keskkonnaagentuur, Kesk- ja Ida-Euroopa Regionaalne Keskkonnakeskus (REC), Helsingi Ülikooli Teabeteenistus, Eesti Roheline Liikumine, Säästva Eesti Instituut, Ettevõtluse Arendamise Sihtasutus, Keskkonnainvesteeringute Keskus ja Euroopa Liidu teadusuuringute raamprogrammid. Lisaks lihttöödele õpingute käigus on tulnud olla keskkonnaekspert, konsultant, koolitaja, kohalik koordinaator, logistika eest vastutaja, tõlk, rühmatöö läbiviija (fasilitaator) ning osaleda mõnedes säästva arendamise, keskkonnamõjude ja strateegiliste mõjude hindamise protsessis ja kodanikuna organiseerida seltsingut Puhta Ääsmäe Eest, mis seisis looduse õiguste eest Ääsmäel. Hetkel olen ühiskondlikus korras valitud Ääsmäe külavanemaks.

Ahto Oja has worked with projects, people and budgets since mid eighties. He was
responsible for international relations of Tartu Student Nature Protection Circle at
1987-1990. He organised international workshop on Ecology and Economy with
participants from Germany, Finland Cyprus and Portugal on Estonian island
Saaremaa at 1990. He also started the international cooperation between Estonian
and Finnish forestry student organisations. During his studies at University of Helsinki
he was one of the establisher of Estonian Students Association in Helsinki, Finland.
He also leaded village movement against incomplete process of establishing of
landfill. He has been elected to the post of Ääsmäe village chairman at 2006, which is
voluntary activity for better quality of life at his home village. He is the member of
Estonia Green Movement since its establishment in 1988, individual member of
Estonian Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Working Group and belong to its Council.
Ahto Oja is alos the member of Committee of “Winter Academy” of Environmental
Studies of Students of Estonia (ESSE), assessing 8 master and bachelor level
conference papers on sustainable consumption.
