Carmen Kilvits
I am currently employed as a Junior Researcher at the Estonian University of Life Sciences while composing my PhD thesis on the topic of citizen science participation models in Estonia and their potential in supporting environmental decision-making. I am intrigued by exploring how citizen science can become more engaging and understanding the outcomes of community-based citizen science projects. My objective is to diversify the landscape of citizen science in Estonia by highlighting the various perspectives and opportunities it presents. Outside of academia, I dedicate half of my time to working as a Biodiversity Advocacy Expert at the Estonian Green Movement. In this capacity, I represent the organization as a Biodiversity campaigner in the CEE Bankwatch Network. My responsibilities involve raising awareness regarding the necessity of financing biodiversity through the European Union's funds in Estonia. Additionally, I advocate for improved engagement of citizen and civil organizations in environmental policy and the Green Deal.
