Djeane Debora Onthoni
Experienced lecturer with a strong background in higher education, specializing in both research and teaching. I hold a Master’s and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Information Engineering from Chang Gung University, Taiwan. My research focuses on the application of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, particularly in analyzing heterogeneous data such as clinical data, medical images, genomic data, and electronic health records (EHR) from large-scale biobanks, including the Taiwan Biobank, UK Biobank, and Estonian Biobank. During my Ph.D. studies, I collaborated with leading institutions such as Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and the Department of Industrial Design at Chang Gung University to develop real-world, AI-driven healthcare tools. Following my Ph.D., I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) in Taiwan, where I utilized data from the Taiwan and UK Biobanks to develop AI-based predictive and stratification models for complex diseases. Currently, I am a Research Fellow in Health Data and AI at the Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu. My current work involves applying AI and statistical methods to analyze EHR and genomic data—including polygenic risk scores from the Estonian Biobank—using the OMOP Common Data Model (CDM) and integrative data approaches.
