Lisainfo
Emanuel Guariglia is currently adjunct professor at the University of Bologna (Calculus and Statistics). He is also assistant professor at the University of Naples Federico II (Calculus). In the last two years he became editorial board member of several mathematical journals (Springer Open, World Scientific Publishing and MDPI). His main research interests are fractional calculus, fractal geometry, wavelet analysis and more in general applied functional analysis. Other research interests include analytic number theory, signal processing, coding theory and electromagnetic modeling, thus making him a scholar able to work both in pure and applied mathematics. He obtained in April 2017 his PhD in Mathematics at the University of Salerno (Italy). In the second part of the PhD program he was visiting at the Mälardalen University (Västerås, Sweden) – Division of Applied Mathematics, under the supervision of the professor Sergei Silvestrov. The PhD thesis concerned the fractional derivative of the Riemann zeta function. In his Master’s Thesis, he studied the wavelet electromagnetic modeling, while his Bachelor’s thesis treated an application of the fractal geometry to the real world (fractal antennas).

PhD in Mathematics - During the PhD period, the fractional calculus of zeta functions has been discussed and several properties proved. As a consequence, some relevant papers has been published in peer-reviewed journals and as conference proceeding. In particular, the submission “A functional equation for the Riemann zeta fractional derivative” at the ICNPAA World Congress 2016 in La Rochelle (France) and published as AIP Conference Proceedings (Volume 1798, Article n. 020063), allowed him to be awarded the Best Student Award for scientific paper. Moreover, the investigation into fractal geometry and wavelet analysis provided several new results, thus making possible the publication of additional papers on peer-reviewed journals.
01.02.2010–23.01.2013
Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering - The master’s program clearly indicated the main skills and scientific interests, showing high level academic background which spans a wide range of scientific topics, especially in mathematical modeling. In fact, he passed with high level score several exams of mathematical modeling, e.g. Radio-coverage for Telecommunication Networks (30/30), Optics (28/30), Antenna and Propagation Theory (29/30), Remote Sensing System Design and Planning (28/30) and Statistical Signal Processing (27/30). In addition to this, he achieved the maximum score (30/30) in five exams of pure Mathematics (Fourier Analysis, Differential Geometry, Finite Geometry and Linear Codes, Advanced Linear Geometry and Partial Differential Equation). As a consequence, the master’s program has been completed with the discussion of a dissertation titled “Electromagnetic Problems: A Wavelet Approach".
