Kaido Paapstel
Practicing cardiologist in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of Tartu University Hospital and clinical researcher at the University of Tartu, with a main research focus on atherosclerotic vascular disease, arterial function, and metabolomics. His work integrates clinical cardiology with translational cardiovascular research using biomarker- and omics-based approaches. He is currently Principal Investigator of a project on genetic and metabolomic determinants of coronary atherosclerosis burden in the Estonian Biobank, has contributed to several national cardiovascular research projects, and is involved in the supervision of doctoral research in vascular metabolomics and chronic limb ischaemia. He has also been teaching clinical cardiology at the University of Tartu for 10 years. He regularly participates in national and international cardiology congresses, including meetings of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the Artery Society, and the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS), with oral presentations of his own work and supervised presentations by PhD students.
