The research activities cover:
-- estimation of bond properties at fibre-matrix interface on macro and micro scales;
-- measuring of fibre orientations from the hardened concrete matrix and modelling of composite properties considering the anisotropic behaviour occurring due to different alignments of short fibres;
-- analysis of FRC stress distributions (linear-elastic) with various fibre orientations;
-- testing and simulation of fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) to strengthen its use as a building material due to its beneficial properties:
* enables to produce thin-walled or complex geometry structures;
* better fulfils the serviceability limit state requirements (especially in crack resistance), which are often more strict than the ultimate limit state ones;
* may replace the secondary or minimum reinforcement;
* can reduce the labour costs and promote efficient implementation.
-- design of cast and pre-cast concrete structures including pre-stressed or post-tensioned structural members.
