Prof. Peter A. Andrekson received his PhD from Chalmers University in 1988 after which he spent 3 years with AT&T Bell Laboratories, N.J., USA (1989-1992). He spent the summers of 1993 and 1995 at Osaka University and worked full time in the USA during 2000-2004 (Cenix Inc. and Lehigh University). Meanwhile he became full professor at Chalmers University in 2001.

17 PhDs students successfully defended their thesis under his guidance. The research area is several aspects of optical fiber communications, including e.g. optical amplifiers, advanced modulation formats, ultrahigh bit-rate transmission, etc.

Published over 460 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers including 3 book chapters, and 93 invited papers of which three were tutorials on different topics during the past decade at the premiere world event: Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC).
