Renu Geetha Bai
Dr. Renu Geetha Bai is an Assistant Professor in Biotechnology, in the Chair of Bioprocess Engineering at the Institute of Forestry and Engineering, Estonian University of Life Sciences, Estonia. Her primary research area is algal biotechnology, with a focus on the sustainable production of high-value biomolecules. Her broader research interests include bioprocess engineering, green chemistry, biorefineries, biomass valorization, resource recycling, carbon reduction, sustainable bioproducts, and the circular economy. Dr. Renu holds a PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from the University of Nottingham, an MTech in Nanomedical Sciences and Molecular Medicine, and a BTech in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering. She has more than 14 years of international research experience spanning biotechnology, nanomedicine, biomaterials synthesis, sensor development, anticancer research, and molecular biology. She has worked as a visiting scientist at world-ranked institutions in India, Malaysia, Australia, the UAE, Estonia, and the USA, and actively engages in international collaborations. Dr. Renu has published her research outputs in high-impact journals, book chapters, and international conference proceedings. Her research has received over 2,000 citations, with an h-index of 22 (Google Scholar). Since 2011, she has been involved in teaching, student supervision, and the organization of international scientific conferences and workshops. She is the Principal Investigator of the Personal Research Grant PSG971 (2025–2030) funded by the Estonian Research Council, and also contributes as a senior researcher to several national and international projects. She has held postdoctoral and senior researcher roles in multiple ongoing and completed international collaborations. Her research excellence has been recognized with numerous awards and fellowships, including the Seal of Excellence Certificate (Horizon 2020 – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship), Golden Researcher Recognition, Young Researcher Prize, Universitas 21 Fellowship, DST Fellowship, and GATE Scholarship.
