One of the difficulties of conducting polymers is found in the bad solubility after polymerization. In combination with chitosan in situ chemical polymerization with conductive polymers (PPy, PEDOT) as additive BTDA, the obtained Hybrid can be dissolved as stable suspension in acetic acid solution. The suspension can be coated on glass forming stable films which were testing cyclic voltammetric and good conductivity in the range 10-3 – 10-4 S/cm was found. Anti-oxidant testing with free radicals (DPPH) shows high anti-oxidant properties of these materials. In case for adding BTDA to the polymerization the obtained Chitosan-PPy-BTDA-Hybrid shows high anti-oxidant properties comparable with Vitamin E. If the CH-PPy-Hybrid films reduced electrochemically the anti-oxidant properties found reversible, which can be a great achievement to common anti-oxidant materials such as TiO2 or natural Vitamins.

The company 台灣永光化學股份有限公司 which based on photochemistry products did deliver us our photoactive compound, which we integrated in the Chitosan-CP Hybrid. Their interest mainly found in the combination of all 3 molecules as well as the application in later developments fo photoactive coatings with anti-oxidant properties. The project funded from government over ITRI, did run for 1 yea with 30 % participation of local Taiwan companies. Most of the result still under confidence and can not be made published.
