Compendium on Science & Research cooperation between the European Union and the Russion Federation. In 2009 was initiated scientific cooperation between researchers of Institute of Soil and Plant Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Latvia University of Agriculture, Department of Applied Geology, Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences, University of Latvia and Laboratory of Crystal Chemistry of Minerals, Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry, Russian Academy of Science. The main interest of this research is exchange of knowledge between scientists with different experiences and approaches in the research field of clays. The project team “Research of clay minerals and quantitative analysis of clayey sediments” involve characteristics (exp. structure) research of clay minerals – illite, kaolinite, smectite etc. and clayey sediments quantitative analyze by Rietveld method.
