Lecturer: "Academic Writing" IXX9103, 6 ECTS (2017-present). Role: co-lecturer with Dr. Amirouche Moktefi. The course provides a structured approach to write peer-reviewed publications. The focus is on conference and journal manuscripts. The result is a completed manuscript, submitted as the final exam at the end of the semester.
Lecturer: "Large-Scale Intelligent Environmental Sensing: Theory and Practice", 6 ECTS (scheduled for autumn 2021). Role: co-lecturer with Dr. Jaanus Kaugerand. TalTech students will learn firsthand the “nuts and bolts” of a real-world, large-scale environmental sensor network: they will be exposed to advanced topics in data-driven modelling (compressed sensing, dynamic mode decomposition), and understand why and how environmental sensing is important, how it is implemented and what commercial opportunities exist.

Lab Instructor: "Securing IoT Systems used for Critical Infrastructure Monitoring" (scheduled for autumn 2021). Role: co-organizer with Prof. Sam Pagliarini (hardware sercurity) and Prof. Hayretdin Bahsi (cyber security and forensics). The lab has the following aims and objectives:

1.Create a lab that hosts and runs prototypes of critical infrastructure monitoring systems developed at TalTech
2. Develop and validate threat models for the selected systems
3. Develop and validate forensic readiness systems
4. Create benchmark data sets to be used by academia, industry and governmental agencies to test and improve cyber security for environmental sensing systems used for critical infrastructure monitoring.
5. Provide lab and lecture material related to hardware and software security, threat modelling and cyber forensics as part of the course "Large-Scale Intelligent Environmental Sensing".

In addition to the M.Sc. and Dr.-Eng work at the University of Stuttgart, I also completed an independent research study on a laboratory scale flexible turbine. The work received a grade of "very good".

FIDET: Fish detection and fish behavior (2016-2018). Role: Industrial research, hydroacoustic and turbulent flow study of the presence and behavior of fish near hydropower intakes, project coordination, field testing and signal processing for a new prototype for measuring complex flows near hydropower plant intakes. RUGGED WQ (2018). Role: Creation of three operational prototype rugged water quality loggers to monitor the temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration and conductivity in German rivers during extreme low flows. Funding Rate: 15k EUR.

EcoPeak4Fish: an integrated approach to support self-sustaining fish populations downstream hydropower plants (2021-2024). Role: Project partner in Portuguese research project, providing underwater cameras and scientific support on monitoring river water fluctuations due to hydropower operations and their impact on fish. Funding Rate: 10k EUR.
HYDROCAM (2018-present): Industry-funded development of a rugged multispectral underwater monitoring for fish migration, sediment transport and underwater infrastructure monitoring. The system is sold and licensed by TalTech to the German firm IAMHYDRO GmbH (https://iamhydro.com/de/ausruestung/hydro-camerasystem.php). Funding Rate To-Date: 110k EUR
Hydropower Turbine Passage Monitoring Service (2018-present): Industrial research deploying the barotrauma detection system sensors developed as part of the H2020 FITHydro project. Contracted industrial projects have been successfully carried out in Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Belgium. Upcoming projects are in planning for 2021. Funding Rate To-Date: 65k EUR.

This includes field data collection, 2D and 3D hydrodynamic modeling, and the development of simulation software to assess ecological conditions of river systems.
 
 
Additional information
Lecturer: "Academic Writing" IXX9103, 6 ECTS (2017-present). Role: co-lecturer with Dr. Amirouche Moktefi. The course provides a structured approach to write peer-reviewed publications. The focus is on conference and journal manuscripts. The result is a completed manuscript, submitted as the final exam at the end of the semester.

Lecturer: "Large-Scale Intelligent Environmental Sensing: Theory and Practice", 6 ECTS (scheduled for autumn 2021). Role: co-lecturer with Dr. Jaanus Kaugerand. TalTech students will learn firsthand the “nuts and bolts” of a real-world, large-scale environmental sensor network: they will be exposed to advanced topics in data-driven modelling (compressed sensing, dynamic mode decomposition), and understand why and how environmental sensing is important, how it is implemented and what commercial opportunities exist.

Lab Instructor: "Securing IoT Systems used for Critical Infrastructure Monitoring" (scheduled for autumn 2021). Role: co-manager with Prof. Sam Pagliarini (hardware sercurity) and Prof. Hayretdin Bahsi (cyber security and forensics). The lab has the following aims and objectives:

1.Create a lab that hosts and runs prototypes of critical infrastructure monitoring systems developed at TalTech
2. Develop and validate threat models for the selected systems
3. Develop and validate forensic readiness systems
4. Create benchmark data sets to be used by academia, industry and governmental agencies to test and improve cyber security for environmental sensing systems used for critical infrastructure monitoring.
5. Provide lab and lecture material related to hardware and software security, threat modelling and cyber forensics as part of the course "Large-Scale Intelligent Environmental Sensing".

In addition to the M.Sc. and Dr.-Eng work at the University of Stuttgart, I also completed an independent research study on a laboratory scale flexible turbine. The work received a grade of "very good".
