Marine Anne Pinaud
Marine Pinaud studied organic chemistry at Université Paris-Est Créteil, France, where she obtained her PhD in 2023 under the supervision of Professor Erwan Le Gall and Dr. Marc Presset at the Institut de Chimie et des Matériaux Paris-Est (ICMPE). Her doctoral research focused on developing new multicomponent and decarboxylative reactions involving aliphatic nucleophiles, with applications to the synthesis of potentially bioactive molecules targeting prostate cancer. During her PhD, she also conducted mechanistic studies and collaborated with Professor Eva Hevia’s group at the University of Bern to explore the structure and reactivity of organozinc compounds by NMR spectroscopy. Before her doctorate, Marine earned a double master’s degree in Pharmaceutical and Bioactive Molecule Chemistry from the Université de Sherbrooke (Canada) and Université Paris-Est Créteil, where she worked on the design and synthesis of macrocyclic analogues of the antibiotic teixobactin. She later joined the company Starlight as Head of Organic Chemistry, where she led multi-step syntheses of fluorescent probes and bioactive compounds while also managing production and quality control. Alongside her research activities, Marine has been actively engaged in teaching organic chemistry at several French institutions, including the IUT d’Orléans and Université Paris-Est Créteil. Her scientific interests lie at the intersection of synthetic methodology, medicinal chemistry, and the development of new tools for chemical biology.
