In the period 2004-2008, prior to starting an academic career, the experienced researcher was actively involved as a civil engineer in the following multi-Million EUR infrastructural construction projects, mostly funded through the EU-ISPA Program:
• Design of WWTP Rousse at the river Danube, Bulgaria (240.000 PE – population equivalents): Biological treatment, Sludge digesters, Biogas plant, Sewage pumping stations and Sewer collectors. Design in cooperation with “Dr.-Ing. Bernd Diering” GmbH, DE. Contractor: “Hochtief Construction AG”, Germany.
• Project coordination and design of WWTP Lovech, Bulgaria (86.000 PE): Biological treatment, Aerobic sludge stabilization and Sewer collectors. Contractor: “SistemYapi Insaat Ve Ticaret”, Turkey.
• Design of WWTP Pazardzhik, Bulgaria (100.000 PE) and Pumping station for industrial wastewater. Design in cooperation with “INFILCO”, Spain.
• Design of WWTP Sunny Beach, Bulgaria (75.000 PE) in the Black Sea resort area. SBR-technology. Design in cooperation with “Biogest International” GmbH, Germany.
• Design of drinking water system in Balchik municipality, Bulgaria. Technical design in cooperation with “PÖYRY Environment” GmbH, Germany.
