Projekti põhieesmärk on alus ja strateegilise interdistsiplinaarse T&A läbiviimine meditsiinitehnika ja IKT valdkonnas keskendudes biooptiliste ja bioelektriliste signaalide interpreteerimisele ja rakendamisele. Tegemist on jätkuga SF projektile SF0140027s07 „Biosignaalide interpreteerimine meditsiinitehnikas“. Uue teema eemärkideks on mitteinvasiivsed, kuluefektiivsed ja töökindlad lahendused varajaseks aju-, südame-veresoonkonna- ja neerufunktsiooni hälvete avastamiseks vananevas elanikkonnas. Kaasaegne signaalitöötlus aju, südame, veresoonte ja biovedelike signaalidele ja nende interpreteerimine toimub mitmemõõtmelises, mitmeorganilises ja mitmemuutujaga võtmes. Ainulaadne kompetents bioelektromagnetismis, biooptikas, signaalitöötluses, elektrodünaamikas ning meditsiinis loob interdistsiplinaarse uurimistöö ja uuenduslike lahenduste vallas originaalsete ideede tekkimiseks vajaliku sünergia. Uurimistöö toetab rahvusvahelist koostööd, tehnoloogia siiret VKE-desse ja edendab kraadiõpet.
The mission of the planned research is to carry out fundamental and interdisciplinary R&D in the fields of Medical Engineering and ICT with focus on interpretation and implementation of biooptical and bioelectric signals. This is a continuation of project SF0140027s07 “Interpretation of Biosignals in Biomedical Engineering”. The new project aims to develop non-invasive cost-effective robust tools for early detection of cerebral, cardiovascular and renal disorders in ageing population. Advanced signal processing is applied for interpretation of biosignals from brain, heart, vessels and biofluids applying multiscale, multiorgan and multivariate approach. The unique competence in bioelectromagnetics, biooptics, signal analysis, electrodynamics, and medicine creates a synergy to generate original ideas for interdisciplinary and innovative solutions. The research contributes to international collaboration, technology transfer to industrial applications for SMEs and promotes graduate studies.
