Both cloud computing and mobile computing domains have advanced rapidly and are the promising technologies for the near future. The computer science department wants to create new courses combining their expertise in cloud computing, distributed computing and mobile computing domains. For helping us in this cause, we would like to establish a mobile cloud computing laboratory. The goal of establishing the laboratory is to equip the students with infrastructure so that they can work with low level details of establishing and using private clouds, and at the same time be able to access the cloud services from the mobile devices. For the laboratory, the fixed infrastructure should be able to support advanced technologies like hardware virtualization while the mobile infrastructure should posses several mobile devices from different vendors supporting different mobile computing platforms. Hardware virtualization is required on the machines so that the students can create virtual images and test them, before actually deploying them on the private cloud. Phones with different platforms are required as several mobile platforms have evolved in the recent years and going with the studenfs choice is very important.
