AKU: Computer-Assisted Inquiry A set of digital learning resources for an elective course on informatics in 10th grade of Estonian schools AKU is a new elective course in the 2011 national curriculum for Estonian high schools (gymnasium), it belongs to the sub-domain Science and Technology. The duration of the course is 35 hours and it aims to prepare students for conducting inquiry projects, which is one of the requirements for graduating from high school since 2014 (along with 3 compulsory national exams). AKU is the follow- up to another elective course ‘Basics of Scientific Research’ and it focuses on the use of computers in an inquiry project, starting from selecting the topic or research problem for one’s study, searching for literature, collecting and analysing the data, to the final phases in the inquiry project: formatting the research report and designing the presentation or poster for the public presentation. The course is designed to be platform-independent, it can be taught with MS Office, OpenOffice or LibreOffice. The set consists of e-textbook, teacher’s manual, Moodle course, presentation slides, screencasts and datasets.
