Rapid developments in medical technologies and IT as well as ever increasing sharing of information and expertise within and between medical institutions nationally and internationally are well in advance when compared to eHealth systems and the ability to operate them to the advantages of patients, doctors and institutions. The current project will unite outstanding medical and academic experts from Estonia, Finland and Sweden into an eHealth network for the following main purposes: - to promote education of eHealth professionals, as a special focus to support the national eHealth enterprise programmes of Estonia, Sweden and Finland; - to support, through networking and specialised education, the development of eHealth on top of the generic platforms already under development in these countries; - to encourage co-operation of eHealth companies and universities; - to promote, through networking and specialised education, innovation in healthcare IT and evaluation of the net benefits gained by healthcare IT implementation; - to develop Nordic co-operation in the field of eHealth.
