Tööd kavatsetakse arendada järgmistes omavahel seotud suundades, mis ühtlasi toetavad TÜFI põhisuundi materjaliteaduse alal. Valguslaineimpulsside levi, -lokalisatsiooni ja -konversiooni teoreetiline ja eksperimentaalne uurimine dispergeerivates ja mittelineaarsetes keskkondades ning footonkristallkiududes. Optiliselt indutseeritud struktuurimuutuste ja relaksatsiooni teoreetiline ja eksperimentaalne uurimine aatomites, inertgaasieksimeerides ja -kristallides ning plasmas, ning mitteintrusiivse ruumilis-ajalise optilise diagnostika meetodite arendamine kõrgrõhulise gaaslahendusplasma on-line monitooringuks. Ülikõrge aeglahutusega optiliste ja VUV/XUV spektroskoopia eksperimentaalsete ja teoreetiliste meetodite ning tarkvara arendamine. Vee molekulide elektrilahendusega plasma-keemilise lagundamise spektroskoopilise diagnostika meetodite arendamine rakendusteks vesinikuenergeetikas. Uute laserravi meetodite väljatöötamine, katsetamine ja Eesti haiglates juurutamine.
Theoretical and experimental study of propagation, localization and conversion of light-wave pulses in refractive and nonlinear media and photonic crystal fibers. Theoretical and experimental study of optically induced structural changes and relaxations in atoms, rare-gas excimers, crystals and plasmas. Elaboration of techniques of visible- and VUV/XUV spectroscopy with super-high temporal resolution (new experimental and theoretical methods and software development ). Development of nonintrusive optical diagnostic techniques for on-line spatio-temporal monitoring of high-pressure gas discharge plasma. Plasmo-chemical decomposition of water molecules in the discharge – development of spectroscopic diagnostics and possible applications for hydrogen energetics. Elaboration of new methods of laser therapy, testing and introducing them in Estonian clinics.
