Projekti eesmärk on arendada välja kõrglahutuslik piiratud-ala atmosfääridünaamika numbriline ühendmudel, mis võimaldab aerosooli dünaamika modelleerimist kõrvuti muude meteoroloogiliste väljade ja parameetrite dünaamikaga ning vastasmõjus nendega. Ühendmudel baseerub ilmaennustusmudeli HIRLAM ühendamisel keemilise transpordi mudeliga SILAM ja aerosoolidünaamika sektsioonmudeliga SALSA. Ühendmudel võtab arvesse aerosooli dünaamilise tagasimõju lühilainelise kiirguse bilansile, pilvetekkele ning sademete dünaamikale. Mudel arvestab ka aersooli dünaamika ja elutsükli sõltuvustega meteoroloogilistest väljadest ja parameetritest nagu tuule-, veeauru-, temperatuurijaotused, piirkihi turbulents, aluspinnaseisund. Ühendmudelist on loota atmosfääri suureskaaladünaamika paremat käsitlust, täpsemat numbrilist ilmaennustust ning ilmaennustuse laienemist õhukeskkonna prognoosi suunas.
Aim of the project is to develop, via connection of the numerical weather prediction model HIRLAM with the chemical transport model SILAM and sectional aerosol model SALSA, a high-resolution limited-area model of atmospheric dynamics, which will enable an integrated modelling of the aerosol-related processes in parallel with dynamics of other meteorological fields and parameters, and in mutual interaction with them. The integrated model will take into consideration dynamic feedback of the aerosol on the short-wave radiative balance, cloud formation and precipitation dynamics. It will also treat the forcing of aerosol dynamics and life-cycle in the atmosphere by meteorological fields and parameters - wind, humidity, temperature, turbulence, surface state. The integrated model is expected to improve treatment of large-scale dynamics, provide more skilful weather prediction, and also to extend the numerical weather prediction toeards the atmospheric environment forecast.
