“Advanced Power Electronics" is the application of solid-state electronics for the efficient control and conversion of electrical power reducing energy losses in all stages of the energy supply chain and consumption. The market for power electronics will grow with average annual rates of 7.4% between 2014-2020. This demand is driven by the transformation of the energy supply chain to more decentralised and volatile renewable energy production, the need for efficient energy distribution and energy consumption. Advanced Power Electronics is a disruptive technology based on new materials and technologies meeting the requirements of future energy production, distribution and consumption. The project increases the capacity of companies, especially SMEs as drivers of innovation, and public authorities in the BSR to absorb the disruptive technology through technology road mapping, strategic collaboration and research-industry pilots within renewable energies, e-mobility and smart buildings.
