Meeskonna eesmärgiks on andmekaeve meetodite arendamine ja rakendamine toetamaks juhte äriprotsesside ja tarkvaraarenduse protsesside kestvat parendamist puudutavate tõhusate otsuste tegemisel. Fundamentaalne hüpotees selles kontekstis on, et tõhusa otsustamise parendamiseks on vajalik selliste mudelite kättesaadavus, mis realistlikult kajastavad organisatsiooni tegelikke protsesse vastupidiselt nende protsesside osalistele vaadetele nii nagu modelleerijad on need algselt disaininud. Sellest lähtudes töötab meeskond välja meetodid loomaks, haldamaks ning analüüsimaks protsessimudeleid, mis baseeruvad logidesse ning andmebaasidesse talletatud infosüsteemide käitumisel. Eelnevaga seotud lahendamist vajavad väljakutsed on järgnevad: (i) modulaarsete ja arusaadavate protsessimudelite automaatne loomine suurtest ja keerulistest süsteemide logidest; (ii) selliste andmeteadlike reeglite automaatne avastamine, mis iseloomustavad protsesside täitmise soovitud ning mittesoovitud alamhulki.
The team aims at developing and applying data mining methods to support managers in making effective decisions with regards to continuous improvement of business processes and software development processes. The underpinning hypothesis is that effective decision making in this context is significantly enhanced by the availability of models that faithfully capture the actual processes of an organization, as opposed to partial views of such processes as perceived by modelers. Accordingly, we will develop methods to discover, maintain and analyze process models based on observed behavior recorded in event logs and organizational databases. We will address several open challenges, including automated discovery of modular and understandable process models from large and complex event logs, discovery and analysis of data quality issues, as well as discovery of data-aware rules characterizing desirable or undesirable subsets of process executions.
