Paper on life and work of St. Platon (Paul Kulbusch). PhD Father Andrei Sõtšov described the life of St. Platon until his arrest in Tartu 1918. Born in a precentor's family in Pootsi-Kõpu, Pärnu district, he finished the Riga Priests Seminary and St. Petersburg Spiritual Academy. Ordained priest, he remained in the imperial capital and organized the life of Estonain Orthodox there, opening a parish school, coordinating charitable work and finally having a church built for the community. In 1918, he was asked to be the bishop of Estonia. He was ordained as a bishop in the end of 1918, bearing the title of auxiliary Bishop of Tallinn and locum tenens of the See of Riga. As an archpastor, he tirelessly served the Church, consoled the faithful and protected the interest of the Orthodox during the difficult years of war, German occupation and Bolshevist aggression. Father Andrei stressed many aspects of the Bishop's work, not previously known to the public.
